Hi everyone!
As students of marketing, it’s tempting to monetize every trend; ethics is the one trend we can’t afford to ignore.
We all saw it: brands and marketing managers slinging “Operation Sindoor” flash sales across social feeds—iced lattes in hand, air-conditioned offices shielded from the smoke and fire.
They package human tragedy as another bargain-bin deal, trading compassion for clicks, empathy for KPIs.
1. Ethics on the Clearance Rack
They’ve priced out their integrity:
“Limited-time offer” banners plastered over headlines about families burying loved ones.
Discount codes masquerading as solidarity, when every percentage point shaved off is a punch to someone’s gut.
2. Clickbait Over Human Lives
Think of the families digging through rubble, hearts shattered, while these marketers fine-tune their A/B tests. Their spreadsheets glow green, but their hearts are bankrupt. Every sponsored post is a neon sign flashing moral void.
3. The Inevitable Reckoning
Karma keeps impeccable books. When it comes calling, these profiteers will be scrambling to lock their doors and disappear. Because you can’t outrun a debt of conscience.
4. A Simple Ask: Empathy
Real people are gasping for breath. They’re not refreshing your landing page for “50% off tank-tops” or “buy one, get one” deals. Show a shred of humanity: pause the campaigns, pull the promos, and maybe—just maybe—reflect on what really matters.
So, please call these vultures out on LinkedIn and let’s name and shame them.
Please stay safe.
